Financing closes for Ontario wind power project

Samsung Renewable Energy and Pattern Energy secured financing for the C$600 million ($585.4 million) 270 MW South Kent wind project in Ontario, which allows the companies to begin construction.

The wind project will use 124 CS Wind turbines and blades from Siemens (NYSE: SI), all manufactured in Ontario. RES Canada is the general contractor overseeing the project management.

The project is expected to be completed by early 2014.
