FERC, Coast Guard team on hydrokinetic project developments

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) signed a memorandum of understanding with the U.S. Coast Guard to cooperate with each other on the development of hydrokinetic projects, or wave, tidal or ocean current projects.

The MOU will promote interagency cooperation in protecting navigation safety, maritime security and environmental resources when considering license proposals for hydrokinetic development. It will improve the ability of the agencies to establish a joint timetable, identify critical issues early, acquire and share information efficiently and collaborate on analysis.
