EPC company chosen for solar power project

Signal Energy LLC said it was chosen as the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor for the Spectrum Nevada Solar Project in Clark County, Nev. The 30 MW AC/37.5 MW DC project is owned by Southern Power Co., a unit of Southern Co. (NYSE: SO), and Turner Renewable Energy.

Signal Energy’s turnkey scope of work includes all engineering, civil infrastructure, mechanical assembly and electrical work, along with associated substation and transmission line.

New Mexico-based Array Technologies Inc. manufactured the tracking system, which will use approximately 2,000 tracker rows with 130,000 photovoltaic solar modules. SunEdison, a unit of MEMCElectronic Materials (NYSE: WFR), will operate and maintain the project, and NV Energy (NYSE: NVE) signed a multi-year power purchase agreement for the output.
