NuScale taps Fluor exec for CEO

The Oregon-based company NuScale has hired former Fluor executive John L. Hopkins to replace the company’s  co-founder Paul Lorenzini as CEO, Nuclear Street reports. NuScale is currently marketing its design for a Small Modular Reactor. Fluor rescued NuScale with a $30 million cash infusion last year after one of the company’s key investors was slammed with fraud charges unrelated to NuScale, according to Nuclear Street. The company’s SMR design was not chosen for a recent development grant from the DOE, but NuScale plans to continue seeking future funding opportunities, as well as design certification from the NRC.
