Kansas wind energy farm gains $247mn investment

GE Energy Financial Services, a unit of GE (NYSE: GE), Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. and Union Bank N.A. are investing nearly $247 million in the 201 MW Post Rock wind farm in Kansas.

Wind project owner Wind Capital Group maintains a substantial equity stake in the farm. GE provided the 134, 1.5 MW turbines and is also providing operations and maintenance on the project. Post Rock is selling its output to Westar Energy under a long-term power purchase agreement.
