Global Solar lays off employees, shuts down Tucson facility

Tucson-based Global Solar Energy Inc., a manufacturer of thin-film solar technologies, has terminated most of its employees and ended operations, according to Inside Tucson Business. The company notified its employees Nov. 16 of its intentions of layoffs and ending operations.

In a July filing with the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act, the company told state officials it intended to terminate as many as 39 employees. Inside Tucson Business reports that up to 95 people may have lost their jobs.
