Puerto Rico solar power plant completed, inaugurated

Ilumina, the largest solar photovoltaic (PV) plant in operation in Puerto Rico, has been officially inaugurated by Governor Luis Guillermo Fortuño Burse. The 20 MW solar farm consists of 100,000 photovoltaic panels.

The Ilumina facility, developed by AES Solar, a joint venture between AES (NYSE: AES) and Riverstone Holdings, and built by GES, is in Guayama. GPtech supplied 40 PV inverters integrated in 20 GPtech’s integrated solutions of 1 MW. GPtech also provided the Power Plant Controller (PPC), which acts as a master controller and, working with GPtech's inverters, allows the plant to meet the technical requirements requested by the utility.
