Wind power project in Canada will be equipped with Acciona turbines

Acciona Windpower and Prince Edward Island Energy Corp. (PEIEC) on Sept. 5 said they signed a turbine supply agreement for the planned, 30 MW Hermanville & Clear Springs Wind Project on Prince Edward Island, Canada.

The agreement includes the delivery of 10 Acciona Windpower AW3000/116 wind turbine generators each with a nameplate capacity of 3 MW and a rotor diameter of 116 meters. The turbines will be installed on steel towers as part of the Hermanville & Clear Springs Wind Project. Under the agreement, Acciona Windpower will also operate and maintain the turbines for the first 15 years of the project.

The project is expected to enter commercial operation in 2013.
