Wind power plant is now operational

Caithness Energy said Sept. 24 that its 845 MW Shepherds Flat Wind Farm in Oregon is operational.

Southern California Edison has signed a 20-year power purchase agreement for the output from the plant.

Google (NYSE: GOOG) invested $100 million in the project in April 2011 and the U.S. Department of Energy awarded a partial loan guarantee in 2010 for a $1.3 billion to finance the project. GE (NYSE: GE) provided the 338 wind turbines.
