Solar power manufacturer opens facility in Oregon

SoloPower, a manufacturer of thin-film solar photovoltaic cells and modules, opened its high-volume manufacturing facility in Portland, Ore. on Sept. 27.

The new plant is expected to have a capacity of 400 MW. SoloPower also has a facility in San Jose, Calif. SoloPower received a $197 million loan guarantee from the U.S. Department of Energy in August 2011 to expand its San Jose facility and open the new plant in Oregon.
