Joint venture formed to compete for nuclear fuel management and decommissioning projects

French company Areva and design consultancy firm Atkins on Sept. 18 said the two companies have formed a joint venture to compete for projects in the UK nuclear fuel management and decommissioning sector.

Dominique Mockly, Areva senior executive vice president of the Back End Business Group, said the joint venture will enable Areva to put their technology to use in meeting the challenges of UK decommissioning.

The Areva-Atkins Partnership UK will have its headquarters in Warrington, in North West England.
