Construction on 2.5 MW solar PV project breaks ground

Canadian Solar Inc. (NASDAQ: CSIQ) and engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor Mortenson Construction broke ground on a 2.5 MW solar photovoltaic (PV) installation in Laurinburg, N.C.

Canadian Solar will supply solar modules to Mortenson Construction and is responsible for overall project delivery. Mortenson will complete the design and engineering services, as well as the installation of the equipment. The project is scheduled for completion in December 2012.

Developed by Charlotte, N.C.-based Birdseye Renewable Energy, the PV solar system will be located on a 10-acre site.
