Caterpillar to provide gensets to district energy systems in Ontario

Caterpillar Inc. (NYSE: CAT) was selected to provide two cogeneration power plants to Markham District Energy Inc., an energy company owned by the city of Markham, Ontario, Canada.

The company will supply a CG260-12 generator set for the MDE Birchmount Energy Centre, a genset for the Bur Oak Energy Centre and ancillary electrical and mechanical equipment for both sites. The gensets will provide a combined 7 MW of electricity and 7 MW of thermal energy to the district energy systems.
