Alstom to supply equipment for hydropower project in Brazil

Alstom has signed a contract with Neoenergia for the supply of three Kaplan hydro turbines, generators, control command and protection systems, and electromechanical and erection equipment for the Baixo Iguaçu hydropower plant in Brazil.

The total contract value is €160 million ($206.6 million), including hydromechanical and lifting equipment, with Alstom’s share around €110 million ($142.1 million).

The hydro power plant will be built on the Iguaçu River and will generate 350 MW. The first unit will be operating in the second semester of 2015.

Alstom said it expects to receive notice to proceed in February 2013.
