Solar PV project in Chile now in service

Chilean state copper producer Codelco has opened a $3.5 million, 1 MW solar photovoltaic (PV) generation plant to supply its Chuquicamata division in northern region II, according to BNamericas.

Calama Solar 3 will be built and operated by Solarpack.

The mining and industrial sectors use more than 38 percent of the country's generation capacity, the article said.
