Hillsborough terminates coal-fired project

The British Columbia Environmental Assessment Office (EAO) has terminated the environmental assessment of the proposed 184 MW coal-fired Wapiti Power Development Project.

The termination occurred after EAO received a letter dated June 7 from the developer, Hillsborough Resources Limited, requesting that the proposed project be withdrawn from the environmental assessment process.

The project was originally proposed to the EAO in 2006.
