Eletrobras, UTE sign MOU for wind project in Uruguay

Eletrobras (NYSE: EBR) and Uruguay’s UTE signed a memorandum of understanding for a 100 MW wind farm to be jointly operated by both utilities in Uruguay, according to BNamericas.

Eletrobras is reportedly waiting for an environmental permit to begin construction of a transmission line that will connect Brazil and Uruguay’s power grids. Work has started in Uruguay and is expected to be completed by 2013.
