Areva reaches milestone in licensing of nuclear reactor in U.S.

Areva on June 8 said it has completed the third phase of the U.S. EPR Design Certification Application review, a significant step toward the final design certification ruling by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC).

Phase Three represents completion of the Advisory Committee on Reactor Safeguards (ACRS) review of the safety evaluation report with open items. Completion this phase moves the process forward to the advanced safety evaluation phase for the final design certification.
