Vogtle nuclear unit back online

Unit 1 of the Vogtle nuclear power plant was brought back online April 15 after Southern Nuclear plant operators responded to an issue with a water pump and safely took the unit offline the previous day. Southern Nuclear is a unit of Southern Co (NYSE: SO).

All Plant Vogtle safety systems operated as designed. Southern Nuclear is investigating the issue, and there is no danger to the public or to workers, the company said.

Plant Vogtle's Unit 2 continues to produce electricity at 100 percent power.
