Solar energy installation in Tennessee completed

Signal Energy LLC has completed construction on the 5 MW West Tennessee Solar Farm in Stanton, Tenn. According to the company, the project is the largest utility scale solar installation in the state.

The generated electricity will be distributed through purchase agreements with Chickasaw Electric Co-op and the Tennessee Valley Authority, according to the NBC affiliate in Knoxville, WBIR.

Solar energy industry has been a growing sector of Tennessee’s economy, with 180 for-profit companies in its solar value chain and 6,400 people employed in solar-related industries.

Working through the University of Tennessee Research Foundation, the University of Tennessee is responsible for installation and operation of the power-generation facility.
