Nuclear power plant returns to service

Operators at Entergy’s (NYSE: ETR) Indian Point Unit 2 nuclear power plant returned the unit to operation on April 1 following a 28 day scheduled refueling outage.

During the shutdown, about 900 contractors supplemented Entergy’s normal workforce of about 1,100 employees to add new fuel and perform thousands of maintenance activities, tests and inspections on equipment at Unit 2.

Indian Point Energy Center, in Buchanan, N.Y., is home to two operating nuclear power plants, Unit 2 and Unit 3, which generate approximately 2,000 MW of electricity.
