MidAmerican unit purchases wind farm in Illinois

MidAmerican Renewables LLC completed the acquisition of the 81 MW capacity Bishop Hill II wind power project in Illinois from Invenergy.

The second phase of the project will use 50 GE (NYSE: GE) 1.62 MW turbines. Construction began in late 2011 and is expected to be complete in late 2012. Ameren Illinois will purchase the output from the plant under a 20-year power purchase agreement.

Invenergy will continue to own the first phase of the project, which uses 133 GE wind turbines.
