Areva extends nuclear fuel contract for Davis-Besse plant

Areva said it has extended its fuel fabrication contract with FirstEnergy Nuclear Operating Co., a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. (NYSE: FE), for the continued fuel delivery to the 913 MWe Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station in northwestern Ohio.

Under the amendment of its 2006 agreement with FirstEnergy, Areva will provide six batches of reload fuel and engineering services with deliveries beginning in 2014. All six of these reload batches are firm orders which will supply fuel to Davis-Besse through 2026.

Areva has been supplying fuel to Davis-Besse since it began operations in 1977.
