Hydro project in Panama to be completed in 2013

Hydro Caisan said it expects to complete the 67.2 MW El Alto hydroelectric project in Panama by April 2013, according to Business News Americas.

The company said in the article that the project is 22 percent complete as of September 2011. It uses three Francis-type turbines, a 50 meter-high, 192 meter-wide dam; a 3.24 km water tunnel and an 8 km transmission line to connect to the Siepac regional grid.

Hydro Caisan has ten-year power purchase agreements with Ensa and Edemet that begin in July 2013.
