MidAmerican to acquire Illinois wind energy project

MidAmerican Energy Holdings Co. will acquire the 81 MW Bishop Hill II wind project in Illinois from Invenergy Wind LLC. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The project, which is currently under construction, will use 50 GE (NYSE: GE) 1.62 MW turbines. It is expected to be completed in late 2012.

Ameren Illinois will purchase the electricity under a 20-year power purchase agreement. The first phase of the project, Bishop Hill I, is also under construction and expected to begin operations in 2012.
