Wind power project enters commercial operation

We Energies' 162 MW Glacier Hills Wind Park in Wisconsin was placed into commercial service Dec. 20. The wind power farm uses 90 Vestas 1.8 MW turbines.

Led by Wisconsin contractors Boldt Construction, Edgerton Contractors and Michels Corp., crews erected turbine towers that were manufactured in Manitowoc by Broadwind Inc.

When all costs are finalized, the project will come in below the target of $363.7 million set by the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin.
