Wind farm in Quebec receives $327mn boost from Enbridge

Enbridge Inc. (NYSE: ENB) is investing C$330 million ($327.4 million) in the 300 MW capacity Lac Alfred wind farm in Quebec. The company said it expects to acquire a 50 percent interest in the plant and become co-owner along with EDF EN Canada Inc.

Hydro-Quebec will build a 30 km transmission line to connect the 150 turbines to the grid and purchase the output from the plant under a 20-year power purchase agreement.

Construction on the first phase of the wind farm began in June 2011 and is expected to be completed in December 2012. Construction on Phase 2 is scheduled to end in December 2013.
