AEP makes executive changes

Robert P. Powers has been elected executive vice president and chief operating officer of American Electric Power (NYSE: AEP), effective immediately.

Powers previously served as president of AEP Utilities since 2008 and was vice president of Generation since 2003.

Powers earned a bachelor’s degree in biology from Tufts University and a master’s degree in radiological hygiene from the University of North Carolina. He earned a senior reactor operator certification in 1991.

AEP also named David Feinberg as general counsel and secretary of AEP effective January 1. Current general counsel D. Michael Miller is retiring.

Feinberg is currently senior vice president and general council of AEP Service Corp since May 2011 after serving as vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary of Allegheny Energy since 2006.

Feinberg received a juris doctorate degree from Harvard Law School and holds a bachelor of science in mechanical engineering and applied mechanics and a bachelor of arts in psychology, both from the University of Pennsylvania.
