Solar powered carports to power EV chargers

GE Energy Industrial Solutions (NYSE: GE) said that it has reached a partnership agreement to work with Inovateus Solar to build new solar carports with electric vehicle (EV) chargers.

GE Energy Industrial Solutions collaborated with Inovateus this year to build a 100 kWh solar carport at its Plainville, Conn., facility.

GE said the solar carport can generate enough energy to offset the power needed to charge up to 13 electric vehicles per day as well as all the overhead lighting in the parking lot.
