Solar energy project begins operations

Solon Corp. began commercial operation of a 15 MW solar photovoltaic (PV) station in California in collaboration with Pacific Gas and Electric Co. (PG&E, NYSE: PCG).

Construction of the Five Points Solar PV Station began in May 2011. Solon was the engineering, procurement and construction contractor for the plant.

The project uses Solon’s Velocity MW cluster concept with fixed-tilt mounting and 75,000 Solon solar panels. It is part of PG&E’s 250 MW Utility Owned Generation PV Program, a five-year plan for the construction of utility-owned solar PV stations.
