EPRI to expand research facilities

The Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) has purchased 108,000 square feet of office and lab space on 24 acres adjacent to its research facility at University Research Park in Charlotte, N.C.

With this purchase, EPRI plans to expand its laboratory space by 15,000 square feet.

EPRI has operated its research and testing facility in University Research Park since 1980. The Palo Alto-based institute also operates laboratory facilities in Knoxville, Tenn., where it conducts research on power delivery and end-use technologies, and in Lenox, Mass., where research at its high-voltage lab focuses on power transmission technology and systems.
