BP Wind places $750mn turbine order with GE

BP Wind Energy is purchasing 350 GE (NYSE: GE) 1.6 MW wind turbines for U.S. wind farm projects being developed in 2011 and 2012 for $750 million.

BP Wind plans to use 88 GE 1.6-82.5 turbines for the Mehoopany Wind Farm in Pennsylvania, and 262 GE 1.6-100 turbines at the Flat Ridge 2 Wind Farm in Kansas. The equipment portion of the Flat Ridge 2 contract was part of the $1.5 billion wind turbine orders announced by GE on Sept. 20.
