Wind energy project breaks ground

Green Mountain Power (GMP) began construction of the $150 million, 63 MW Kingdom Community wind project in Vermont.

The first phase consists of constructing 21 Vestas V112 3 MW wind turbines. Work is expected to be complete and the wind farm operational by the end of 2012.  Phase 2 includes upgrades to Vermont Electric Co-op’s transmission lines. Vestas and Green Mountain Power are working on the wind project together.

The project received a certificate of public good from the Vermont Public Service Board in May and has received all permits required to begin construction.
