Solar power project wins $90mn loan guarantee

The Department of Energy (DOE) awarded Cogentrix a $90 million loan guarantee to build the 30 MW Alamosa high concentration solar photovoltaic plant in Colorado.

The facility will use Amonix panels made from concentrating optics and multi-junction solar cell panels that are controlled by a dual-axis tracking system.

The Public Service Co. of Colorado will buy the power generated under a 20-year power purchase agreement.
