Solar energy project to be built at New Jersey hospital

Canadian Solar Inc. (NASDAQ: CSIQ) was awarded a contract to provide solar panels for a new $9 million, 2.1 MW solar power installation at St. Peter's University Hospital in New Brunswick, N.J.

The project is expected to use 10,000 Canadian Solar 6P 240P solar panels in six separate solar arrays: two rooftop arrays, three parking lot solar canopies and an additional solar canopy on the top deck of a multi-level parking structure.

Public Service Electric and Gas Co. (PSE&G) has helped finance the project through its solar loan program. The project is scheduled to begin construction in October 2011.
