Wind energy farm planned, PPA signed

Duke Energy (NYSE: DUK) plans to build a 200 MW capacity wind farm in Texas and sell the electricity it generates to San Antonio-based CPS Energy under a 25-year power purchase agreement.

Duke Energy Renewables, a unit of Duke Energy, will build, own and operate the 200 MW Los Vientos I Windpower Project. The utility expects to start construction in the fourth quarter of 2011 and bring it to commercial operations in December 2012.
