Solar energy project orders Suntech panels

Suntech Power Holdings Co. Ltd. (NYSE: STP) was selected by SunPeak Solar LLC to supply 28.7 MW (DC) of solar panels for a 23 MW (AC) solar power plant in California.

Imperial Valley Solar Co., a unit of SunPeak Solar, will oversee the construction including installation of 100,000 Suntech 285/290 W Vd-Series modules.

The plant will be built on a 123-acre site adjacent to the Imperial Irrigation District’s Niland electric substation and natural gas turbine facilities.

The North American Development Bank (NADB) will provide a $77.4 million credit facility to support the project.
