FirstEnergy executive joins EPRI

James Lash, president of FirstEnergy Generation and chief nuclear officer for FirstEnergy Nuclear Operating Co. (FENOC), has been elected to the board of directors for the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), an independent, non-profit electric industry research and development organization.

Lash currently oversees FirstEnergy's fossil and nuclear plant operations and environmental efforts and has been in the business for more than 38 years.

Lash will finish out the term previously held by FirstEnergy Corp. (NYSE: FE) executive vice president Gary Leidich, who is retiring. Lash's term expires in April 2013.
