Solar energy project breaks ground

Avery Solar construction

O2 Energies started construction on the 1 MW Avery Solar photovoltaic project in North Carolina.

Mountain Electric Co-op will buy all of the generated electricity under a power purchase agreement.

REC will supply 4,000 Peak Energy 235 W modules for the fixed-tilt project. SMA Solar Technology AG will supply two Sunny Central 500HE-US 500 kW inverters.

The farm is expected to be commissioned in September 2011.
