Combined-cycle power plants planned for Pennsylvania

Moxie Energy reportedly plans to build two, $800 million natural gas-fired combined-cycle power plants in Pennsylvania.

Construction on the 700 MW capacity Moxie Patriot Generation Plant and the 700 MW capacity Moxie Liberty Generation Plant is expected to begin in 2012. Moxie Liberty could be completed in the first quarter of 2015. The Patriot plant could enter service in the second or third quarter of the same year.

There was no word on which company will supply the equipment.

The plants still need air permits from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection.
