Wind project picks Vestas turbines

Green Mountain Power announced that it has selected the Vestas V112 3 MW turbine for the $150 million, 63 MW Kingdom Community wind project to be built in Lowell, Vt.

The turbine choice was identified in a filing Green Mountain Power made on June 6 with the Vermont Public Service Board of several of the documents required before construction of the project can begin.

Green Mountain Power is cooperating on the project with local utility Vermont Electric Co-op.

Construction of the new facility is expected to finish by December 2012 in order to qualify for $40 million in federal production tax credits.
