Sempra Energy names Reed CEO

The board of directors of Sempra Energy (NYSE: SRE) elected Debra Reed chief executive officer. Reed succeeds Donald Felsinger, who will retire in 2012. Neal Schmale, president and chief operating officer, will remain in his role until his retirement later in 2011.

Reed has been executive vice president of Sempra since April 2010. Before that, she was president and CEO of San
Diego Gas & Electric
and Southern California Gas Co., both units of Sempra Energy.

Reed serves on the board of directors of Halliburton Co. and Avery Dennison Corp.

Reed graduated summa cum laude from the University of Southern California with a bachelor's degree in civil engineering.
