Chile to manufacture wind turbine towers

Chile's Arrigonio Metalurgica is building the first wind turbine tower manufacturing facility in South America, according to a report by Energias Renovables.
 
The facility where these structures, which can be 100-metres high and weigh up to 210 tonnes, will be built is located in in Quilicura.
 
Chile has 4000 MW in renewable energy projects that are expected to be constructed in the next ten years, according to some estimates.
 
"Chile needs to increase its electricity generation capacity" Dante Arrigoni, the company's general manager, was quoted as saying.
