Westar names Ruelle Exec VP CEO

The Westar Energy Inc. Board of Directors said that Executive Vice President and CFO Mark Ruelle will succeed President and CEO William Moore upon his retirement. Effective May 19, Ruelle will be president and CFO while Moore will remain CEO and a board member until his retirement later in 2011.

Since 2003, Ruelle has served as executive vice president and chief financial officer of Westar Energy. Beofre returning to Westar, Ruelle served in several executive positions with Sierra Pacific Resources Inc. in Nevada.
