AEP unit to buy power from wind farm

Indiana Michigan Power, a unit of American Electric Power (NYSE: AEP), is adding another 100 MW of wind power capacity at the planned Wildcat-1 wind farm in Indiana. The capacity is part of a 20-year power purchase agreement with E.ON Climate and Renewables N.A.

When completed, the project is expected to have a generating capacity of 250 MW.

Construction is scheduled to begin before the end of 2011. The wind farm could be operational by the end of 2012. The PPA is subject to regulatory approvals in both Indiana and Michigan.
