Siemens simple cycle plant in Peru

Siemens Energy has been awarded an $80 million contract for turnkey construction of the 200 MW Santo Domingo de los Olleros simple-cycle power plant in Peru. The deal includes an option for a combined-cycle plant in the next phase.

Siemens will engineer, procure and construct the plant as part of the contract. It will supply an SGT6-5000F gas turbine, electric generator SGEN6-1000A and the entire electrical and SPPA-T3000 instrumentation and control equipment. Siemens will also provide long-term maintenance.

The plant is expected to open in late 2012.

Electricity demand in Peru is expected to increase over the next five years from 6.7 GW to 11 GW.
