Record power consumption in Argentina

13 April 2011 - The electricity demand in Argentina reached a record high following a recent heat wave that hit the country, reports the El Cronista newspaper.
According to the Ministry of Planning, national demand rose to over 20 900 MW at the beginning of March, a 0.3 per cent rise above 20 843 MW, which was recorded in August last year.
However, despite the rise in demand Argentina still has a relatively healthy reserve margin of 2000 MW, or 20 per cent of the total energy generation, according to official figures.
