Power purchase agreement approved

The California Public Utilities Commission approved a 20-year power purchase agreement for Pacific Gas & Electric to purchase the output from the 150 MW Mesquite Solar 1 plant in Arizona.

Sempra Generation, the owner of the plant, said construction on the project will begin in June. This is the first phase of the 700 MW total Mesquite Solar complex.
