PGE names interim president and CEO

The Pacific Gas & Electric Corp. Board of Directors named Lee Cox as interim chairman, CEO and president to replace Peter Darbee, who is retiring April 30.

Cox is the retired vice chairman of AirTouch Communications Inc. and retired president and CEO of AirTouch Cellular. He has been a member of PG&E's board since 1996.

Christopher Johns will continue to hold the position of president of PG&E Co., the utility unit.

Darbee joined PG&E Corp. in 1999 as Chief Financial Officer. He was appointed CEO in 2005 and assumed the additional role of Chairman of the Board in 2006.
