Japanese investors join wind energy project

Itochu Corp. and Sumitomo Corp. invested about 17 billion yen (US$20.5 million) each in the 845 MW Shepherds Flat wind farm in Oregon.

The companies will gain concessions from a unit of General Electric Co. to build the wind project. It is expected to come online in 2012.
